Actually the official translation is pretty good so far I just prefer the novel bc I feel like it mentions more of the emotions and stuff

I think he's basically a switch but omegaverse, like whatever his "partner" is, he becomes the opposite, so like if he's around omegas, he'll do alpha pheromones, and if he's around alphas he'll end up doing omega pheromones

whats happening with sehyeon is that he became severely ill a few years back and needed a bone marrow transfer from his brother who is an omega. this has caused him to develop omega pheromones from time to time in addition to his regular alpha pheromones. they build up in him over time but because he is an alpha he needs to manually release them as he has no physiology to release them passively like an omega does. the omega pheromones also get triggered by the presence of other alpha pheromones so if he’s by someone releasing pheromones it can trigger his omega pheromones to build up rapidly. but once again, since he’s an alpha they wont release smoothly on their own and they’ll build up to the point of making him sick as they conflict with his own alpha pheromones.
thats where junwoo, the ml, comes in. he isnt an enigma - or at least theres nothing in the story that suggests this yet, tbd on that front ig. he’s just a guy who, when he was a child, fell in love with an alpha (sehyeon) who showered him with love. upon coming of age and becoming an alpha himself, he hated that he was an alpha and didnt want to have any of the traits. fortunately (or unfortunately) for him, he had a kinda obsessive pheromone otaku older beta brother scientist who wanted an alpha or omega nearby so he could observe them and perhaps manipulate them to his scientific whims and who LOVED the opportunity to “help” his younger brother learn how to suppress the everliving fuck out of his pheromones, to the point that they were pretty much undetectable. junwoo didnt even register as an alpha because of how low his pheromone levels were, and it was out of internalized disdain for his trait, regret for his first love, sheer willpower, and a meddling older brother with too much access to alpha/omega research materials.

thus we begin our story: sehyeon who needs a beta dorm bc he cant be around alpha pheromones lest they trigger his omega pheromones to overproduce and be a hassle/burdensome to his body, and junwoo who is p much undercover as a beta because his first love was an alpha and he did everything he could to not be one himself. hope this helps!

oh yeah, and hes not really a switch either. if he wanted to diy his omega pheromone release he totally could, and the pheromones would be there regardless of if his partner was an omega UNTIL they imprint. he is an alpha with omega pheromones, thats it. this is alpha x alpha bc junwoo is in love with him and offered to “help” him release his pheromones. he’s just doing it manually too, he is holding back his pheromones the whole time (unless otherwise specified in the story). junwoo just wanted to put his fingers in sehyeons ass and sehyeon is bit dense (he knew what was going on, hes not oblivious in that sense. but he isnt connecting the dots for some reason on why he likes getting fingered so much and why he mostly only sees omegas as brothers and comrades not romantic interests lmao). his omega pheromones make it so that he CAN have sex with junwoo without rejecting his if they slip out too. but they’ll still reject each other’s pheromones if they were to just blast them at each other in a room. sehyeon has to generate and release some omega pheromones first before it stops being uncomfortable and junwoo probably just overcomes it with ~the power of love~ (and his innately low pheromone count). but sehyeon still sees himself as an alpha getting a circumstantial assist, not as a switch fr

SPOILER maybe? —-> they are speculating that if sehyeon imprints on an alpha while releasing omega pheromones he could be stuck an omega, but they dont have any idea how that would look cuz he obviously still has his alpha pheromones and bodyparts. so thats where the “switch” dynamic kinda comes into play, but it doesnt really switch back and forth depending on the partner, he just has both pheromones bc of medical circumstances for now and once he locks in with a partner’s pheromones permanently, it changes him permanently

yeah so junwoo does (obvi cuz hes all up in his biznatch) but so does yubin, the freshman omega, who got a whiff of his omega pheromones like last chapter or something. i think that angry alpha who always bothers yubin started dumping his pheromones out and sehyeon reacted to his pheromones and his omega pheromones started building up. a tiiiny amount slips out so most people wont notice but since yubin is especially sensitive to pheromones, he caught a whiff of them. we havent seen him process that they belong to sehyeon yet tho… in general they dont really come out unless he is releasing them which involves… you know…
