people don't usually fall in romantic or sexual love with their parental figures, but we know that our parental bonds do affect our relationships in the future. if the older doppelganger was well adjusted, he might be attracted to someone that shares a couple of the creator's traits, but not typically the figure themselves.

Thank you, I came here to say this as well! They’re both to blame, they have poor communication skills with each other. But Taichi is TOO possessive of Naoto, knowing perfectly well that he’s extroverted and flirty. IRL, I would feel jealous if the person I was dating was like that but I would never have that kind of behavior. And as an adult Taichi got worse, no matter how much he says he tried to get better. He’s so jealous and possessive that he ended up raping Naoto and it was AWFUL! It was realistic and raw and painful! And a mere apologize would NEVER be enough in real life, never! He’s a red flag no matter how much ppl try to justify his behavior. Rape is never the answer no matter how angry you are and even if it’s between guys that fight (physically) a lot. It was brutal, I almost dropped the manga! But I do love this mangaka works and I understand why she chose to write Taichi this way. But it wasn’t enough for me that a mere apologize was enough and that even Naoto apologized. They were both wrong but Naoto asked ahead of time for no sex, and Taichi got so triggered with it WHY? A relationship is not just about sex! He didn’t even confide in Naoto about his father being sick, he was actually just using Naoto as a fuck buddy and he doesn’t deserve an easy redemption like this. He has no trauma whatsoever to justify this behavior. None! Parents got divorced? Boohoo cry me a river. It’s not the end of the world! It’s hard but it’s not traumatic enough for him to be this possessive about the only friend he had! Right? There was a lot of potential in this story but damn the artist just threw everything out the window with poorly choices in terms of character development. It could’ve been a really good story, but there are so many things I just can’t get over
everything about this manga is so perfect for me. i love how it was kota who brought them together but was never in between them just like how it’s usually done with other dead lover tropes. they didn’t focus on how the ml is still smitten with his first love but focused on how he is able to easily accept a new path in life. each one of the main characters had their own spotlight and the main couple’s relationship had good communication, i really love how tetsu never made shun feel like he’s a replacement or made him feel any sense of inferiority against his first love. i love everything about this manga and this is how you properly write dead lover trope!!
