i think dan hasn't got a good treatment from people his whole life and now that jaekyung is "helping" him by paying his debts, his grandma's treatment, giving him a place to stay, a job, etc he feels greatful and sadly falls in love with him bc no one has ever helped him like jaekyung does (in a way)
