The moment I knew Pearce had a workshop where he made metal stuff I knew it was him! I mean c'mon.. it was pretty predictable that someone could make claws/tools to make it look like a Therian was on a human killing spree.. and when Pearce himself told about his workshop this hunch just got converted into a sure feeling
