thought id repost an old comment i made back before i had an account 3yrs ago. it offers some interesting insight to a posible psychological explanation to the first story. hope u guys find it as interesting as i did :)) anyways here it is vv
My first time reading this was about one and a half years ago and I thing this is about my 5th time reading it. Everytime I read it I'm brought back to a comment I read when I first read this Manga on myreadingmanga. I just thought it'd be nice if more people got to see it. I just thought it was such an interesting observation. So here it is.
*The comment is by a person who goes by the name "v.2", written two years ago as an anonymous comment. Check it out yourself if you want, I'm only including part of the whole comment. Just look up something along he lines of "arrow harada myreadingmanga", click the result that says [ENG] in it, and scroll way down until you get to the two year old comments.
"I really like this one. I think Harada portrayed someone who suffers from narcissistic personality disorder really well.
I haven't seen many NPD main characters so this goes straight to the top of my list as the best portrayal. They tend to be the annoying side characters.
I don't know much about psychology but this is what I got from it:
The seme approaches the uke because he's an easy to manipulate target. Someone with NPD will seek constant attention and need to be held 'special' to others. I think he could tell the uke was socially awkward and seeked to be the 'only friend' so he would have a very high position of importance to at least one individual. He's abusive and cruel, perhaps as a confirmation that no matter what he will be loved, or perhaps he believes he's entitled to special treatment. NPD people will have issues understanding the viewpoints of others, he never understand his friends warnings nor the uke's true feelings. The fact that he tells his friend about it too, is his boastful nature. He wants to be praised. Perhaps he even thinks his friend is envious of him. People with NPD get hurt easily too, when the uke broke it off with him, he was hurt, he felt insulted. He reacted with violence and extreme anger and agitation, which is typical behaviour of someone with NPD. He also showed intense jealousy when the tried to break them up..."
