I understand why he'd be hurt, since it's been pretty clear from the start that he deep down cares about Marie. What I don't get is why the king's concerned now? Marie was also exceptionally beautiful and it seems he couldn't care less when she died, and now he hovers over a woman who collapsed? I hope there's an explanation for this, that makes sense. I don't think this is an issue of the art though, but more of the script. I hope the author isn't too worried, that people will stop reading is they don't fall in love immediately
