I was rereading and noticed smth kinda weird. The second half of chapter 7, eunsan picks up his brother after his practice with Ian. Eunpa (eunsan’s brother) drinks Ian’s protein drink and chokes so Ian pulls out a towel or sweater to wipe his mouth, and Eunsan takes out his handkerchief. Later on, Ian jorks it using Eunsan’s handkerchief that he stole and inhales the towel thing he used to wipe Eunpa’s mouth…ik Ian’s obsessed with Eunsan but am I interpreting this correctly, that he’s so desperate for Eunsan, he’s jorking his peanits with something he used to wipe Eunsan’s brother’s mouth with ??

Obsession and devotion disguised as love, in an attempt to fill a void—we find purpose and meaning in chasing after something that makes us feel “whole”, even if we can feel it may not be the best thing for us to do. Dennis chases after Todd, even going against his moral code + literal job by shooting a sheep, to prove he is devoted to Todd, and puts him first. I thought this story was about being gay and “sinning”, going down the dark path. But tbh, I feel like this can also be a cynical take on religion? God is seen as benevolent and all knowing—so then why does he make a man sacrifice his own son to prove his loyalty? And in the end, we find out it is a test to prove the man’s worthiness as a follower of God, and a lamb is sacrificed instead. In this story, Dennis is both the man and the lamb—he offers himself as a sacrifice to Todd, knowing it would be the end of the road for him, but he would do anything to chase after him. It’s dark, it’s desperate, and I love how many ways this story can be interpreted.

“The name Todd, of British origin, primarily means "fox" in Middle English, referring to a clever or wily person.”
“The name Dennis, while often associated with the Greek god Dionysus, also has significant religious ties, particularly through Saint Denis, the patron saint of France. The name, derived from Dionysius, signifies a "follower of Dionysus" and carries historical and religious weight due to its connection with the Christian martyr.”

AHHH the rest of my reply cut off omg. These damn emojis. But I’m so glad someone else thought the same thing as me!!! I know ppl are confused and upset about the ending cuz it’s pretty tragic and open ended, but there’s so much to say about these two. I could talk endlessly—the author is so good at foreshadowing and symbolism… I thought Todd and Dennis were basic names at first but I decided to google the meanings cuz I was curious… and I was not disappointed!

BABE TALK TO MEEEE !!!! I JUST BINGE READ IT AND I FEEL LIKE IM GOING CRAZYYY !!!! the subtle foreshadowing is driving me crazy, i can't no same i had to search for the characteristics of a sheep cus i was so curious if it matched dennis's personality and i was not disappointed !! i found out that sheeps are followers, and also feel so many emotions (one of them being despair..wow!!), and then i found out more about biblically sheeps and WOW !!! it felt like it was describing dennis's personality

I’m glad we could help! I think the ending is very tragic, since we grow attached to Dennis and Todd, but there’s also a lot of lessons for us to learn—what it means to desire someone, and how much of that feeling ties back into your identity. How far are you willing to go and lose yourself for another? I think asking questions like that help me take my mind off the sad vibes bc then I end up curious and go for a reread and learn more than I did on my first read through

exactlyyy I went through a similar process as u. I first heard about this story on Twitter and thought the art was pretty, but the vibes kinda scared me (it was giving dark thriller) so I stayed away until today loool ^^ I’m so glad I read it though. Everything is foreshadowed fr—from the title, to the names of the characters, to the first chapter itself where Dennis is overlooking the cliff and saying that this is “the end of the world”… and a wind sound coming from the bottom of the cliff after he leaves? It’s chilling af…I love love love the theme of sheep and shepheards in this one. My mind automatically went to Christianity specifically—I’m personally not religious but I’ve been to church a few times and went to church summer camp once so I have a bit of knowledge on it. Dennis is unfortunately a sheep through and through—he couldn’t protect his dog, he couldn’t protect himself. His job was to lead but instead, he was ultimately the one being led (that convo with Todd about how sheep are domesticated animals… Todd was able to “domesticate” Dennis). There’s a lot of irony in that tbh, and prob more to say but I haven’t processed it all yet haha

LOL i found out abt this manhwa cus ppl were saying the cover looked like levi and erwin the art was so gorgeous so i decided to let it marinate but then i found out that it only has 9 chapter and dennis DIES??? i haven't read a tragedy bl in a while so i had to see what was going on and i was NOT dissapointed initially i thought it didnt make sense for dennis to be the sheep since he gave me leader vibes with the whole of taking care of the sheeps. even when todd was introduced, i still didn't think dennis was a sheep until the scene happened where dennis had to shoot the sheep to show devotion towards todd. i felt like that's when he truly became the sheep and it reaffirmed it even more when he started to despair when todd left for months (since sheeps can't live by themselves without their shepherd) !!!! this manhwa is beautiful and im not mad that it took the tragedy route, i personally think that's the best ending you could give for this. it personally makes sense to me !!! also what's ur opinion abt ppl perceiving todd as a shapeshifter?? cus i personally think he's just a human who was given the task to hunt sheeps and bring it to his town

Omg lol the cover does look like erwin and levi this manhwa has one of the best art styles I’ve ever seen ngl. What I like about Dennis is he’s presented as a macho handsome “tough” guy, who seems to have everything together. He works hard, and does a good job protecting the sheep at first. But I think what’s scary about his “fall”, is that it seemingly comes out of nowhere. Someone who once led sheep and took care of the farm began losing himself in another “person”— even when we lead, even when we follow, we can still end up lost. I think the ending is wonderful honestly and despite people wanting a revision, I don’t think it could be replaced. Also on the shapeshifting thing, I do believe Todd is a shapeshifter. We see some clues, like how the coyote that attacks the first sheep is black with yellow eyes, andwe see Todd as a human he has the same coloring. When Dennis shot todd in the leg, Todd suddenly appeared later with an injury on the same leg (probably the most damning piece of evidence?). Todd also growled at some point and bit Dennis’s nose—things that coyotes are known to do. I don’t know what Todd is exactly but it seems he appears as whatever he needs to be depending on who is observing him. One moment he is a coyote, the next he is a wolf in sheep’s clothing—he is the discombobulated voice at the end that convinces Dennis to follow him straight down the cliff. He is not human, but something tangential to humanity—something that relies on humans to do its bidding, to follow it unrelentingly. Todd is the the cure and the sickness—he gives purpose to Dennis just as much as he takes his autonomy and identity away.

i 100% agree, if dennis didn't die in this manhwa, i feel like it would've just contradicted the title oml thank you !!! that makes so much sense, i was wondering why they kept showing todd's foot but i never thought to piece it together with the wolf we saw LMFAO also yeah i agree with Todd being a some type of leader and dare i say that dennis is not the only one that fell victim to him (literally ) todd said he came every summer to hunt and also in the beginning when the farm owner said to not trust anything but the sheep. someone also bailed last minute when they were given the task to watch over the farm, i don't know if I'm reaching but i feel like todd has definitely 'pushed' other people over the edge. i can't wait for the last chapter to come out, i need some explanations oops forgot to mention that when dennis shot the sheep, i felt like todd "domesticated" him to kind of depend on him and be his follower just like a tamed sheep.

Yes I think Dennis dying at the end unfortunately had to happen given the way the story was crafted. And good catch on Todd saying he came by every year to hunt, I think he definitely had pushed others over the edge… I still don’t know his reasons for why he does it—is it just in his nature or does he find pleasure in the hunt? And yeah haha I used google translate for the last chapter so it would be great for an actual translated chapter to come out ^^

I binge read all 8 chapters in English and looked at the Korean raws. Tragic ending fr… I know sheep are the ultimate sacrifice and looked as a symbol of devotion, especially in religious texts. But with the ending, it seems our main character strayed too far from his ultimate goal and ended up sacrificing himself to a “greater power”. Dennis’s loneliness and boredom led him to Todd in the first place, who absolutely used this knowledge to his advantage. It’s kind of awful to think back on it now, to see Todd teaching Dennis how to hunt knowing it was completely futile—the idea of “teach a man to fish, and you feed him for a lifetime”, knowing Dennis absolutely sucks at hunting…which ties in perfectly about their conversation on sheep being the oldest domesticated animal. If humans disappeared one day, so would sheep. And so when Todd disappears, it makes sense who would soon follow in his footsteps…

They’re technically “together” at the end (in a twisted way) because Dennis followed Todd’s voice off a cliff. The final panel we see is a sheep with its neck broken, which is supposed to represent Dennis’s death. We don’t know what happens to Todd, but I’m assuming he will live on and continue the path of manipulation and destruction.

Just hate read or enjoy this story at your own discretion… if you guys have public accounts, take care not to post screenshots, especially if they’re from this or other illegal websites. I hate how u guys are talking about that 18 year old like he’s some minor who doesn’t know any better—and that is not me saying that he deserved to get raked over the coals on twitter by the author. He’s an idiot and the author went too far. Just take what you can learn from these two and move on

I read 9 chapters of this and I still can’t tell if this is a good story or not. The premise is interesting but nothing is actually compelling me to read other than my friend telling me this story was promising? But 9 chapters later and I’m on the 25th chapter for the raws and I feel like I’m still chasing a dopamine hit or something like I’m waiting for ANYTHING to happen. The characters, the plot, like I’m not seeing what everyone else is seeing… and this isn’t a hate comment I just wanna know what everyone else thinks?

i find really interesting how we’re able to see both of their pov, which are completely different; one being optimistic and the other pessimistic due to life’s circumstances. i also love their dynamic and how their relationship progresses and, imo the story is only now getting started (i’m scared since its probably not gonna be all rainbow and butterflies thanks to the creepy teacher lmao). tbh its totally fine if you’re not that engaged in the story like others are, maybe it’s not your cup of tea and that’s it ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭
I actually really enjoyed it, I think it was the author’s best work by a long shot… and when the author tried to make it seem that loving on ur brother was genetic I could stop laughing omfg
