Not me tbh, i thought they just knew each other because a kagai mother and a famous geiko must have work together and when mother told momohana that momoko can't get up once she slept i start to think that maybeee they're friends since maiko day but i thought that mother is few years older than momoko.

Yuuko, as the “mother”’s bio child, is next in line to inherit position after the previous retires. However, I don’t think one can be both a “mother” and a geiko. Yet, Azusa is currently the one who is the “mother” while yuuko went on to be the most sought over geiko. So both yuuko and Azusa had the difficulties of choosing between giving up their dream and become a “mother” or follow their dream and go on to advance from maiko to geiko.
From the outside, I think it’s reasonable to think that there’s some drama between the bio daughter who suppose to inherit the house but didn’t and the “outsider” girl who came to be a maiko but became the “mother” position.
Although, I don’t know why yuuko hasn’t visit’s azusa’s place.
