You defenately don't need to, they are separated stories , that are however in the same world. Becouse of that I do recomend to read the other first simply couse it is also an awesome storie and you might understand the world both take place in better. There are also a few indications to the first storie in this one, they explane it just fine so you will understand,but it is fun to know the storie behind the indications , in my opinion. (Sorry for english mistakes that are sure to be there, I am still in my learning progress^^)
