Tell them there are not enough good yuri out there. Compared to yaoi, the amount of yuri produced every year is too little. That means less interesting stories and dynamics. There are a lot of yaoi out there so obviously there's a wider range of quality. Tell them it's not about the yuri or yaoi, it's about the industry standard.
