Our Guide definitely needs to go through some intensive therapy. I'd say the reason for his behaviour is mostly due to ptsd which has caused severe separation anxiety and behavioural issues.
Our Esper also needs treatment for his ptsd as it makes him enable everything the guide does out of some form of fear, perhaps the fear of being seen as weak or being hated.
