This manga is whiplash in story form, holyyyy shit. Despite the tone 180s, as a collection of one shots, it's great. Each story has an element that distinguishes it from other similar stories, and each story offers something different, so there's something for everyone.
The second story is my favorite. Those scenes as kids show them kindly, highlighting their inner selves, and portraying them as equals, rather than focusing on them as adults who have "failed" socially/financially.
This manga is in the no-man's land of not twisted enough to be interested in seeing how the story plays out, and not moving enough to invest in the characters' relationship. Just another run of the mill, irredeemable "rape becomes love" trope manga.
