We all know how this story is going to end, so imo the interesting route would be to see how Dan will deal with grief. At this point Dan is just a tool for Jaekyung's redemption. I know it sounds insensitive but after all this is fiction lol.
I hope that him attempting to end it all changes them both and Jaekyung stops with his bullshit.
