Just because you think you can save someone doesn't mean you really can. What if a situation arises where there's no way to survive and they really die. Failing to save someone while prioritizing yourself doesn't mean selfishness, you just fail. They're in a situation where their survival is more important. Yes, other people need them but their loved ones too
