gave it a chance! and it was a good read, tbh i wasn’t expecting that kind of ending since stories like this usually end tragically…… but i don’t particularly hate it. i think the fact the author included dohyun’s pov was a pivotal point in the story, given how he did have feelings for sungho, otherwise it wouldn’t have been believable for them to end up together.

The artist already clarified this a long time ago. The author and the artist only agreed up to this season in the contract. The artist was okay with more seasons, but the author never reached out. So this is considered the ending. I also read the novel to this during covid and I remembered they were even married.

Brett took some swab samples for testing and also says that it’s obvious who was behind the attack. That it was probably leaked he’s part of the list of witnesses in Alexander’s defense. He also said Nathan’s dad probably thinks is hard killing him since he’s the son of a business partner who donates a lot. So it seems true that they attacked Brett to intimidate him and corner him, to put a bad light on him too. I’m astonished as to how calm and collected Brett is since he’s recollecting all that went down and even how the perpetrators looked with a lot of detail, because according to him there was nothing else he could do other than pay attention to those details. Brett’s secretary handed him a gun to protect himself just in case. He also says he needs a new red car.
As soon as he picks up Hayden, Hayden notices he’s hurt and Brett is surprised he noticed straight away. However, Brett only tells him he was in an accident and omits the rest. I mean, Brett is using sunglasses, wearing a turtleneck and his hair is down…. Hayden admits he was too excited about the date he didn’t know Brett had an accident but Brett assures him that he’s hanging out with him because he wanted to go on the date too. Brett also jokes about what would have happened if he called Hayden and it was true he injured someone to which Hayden responds he would ask whether the other person is dead or not and if Brett is okay too, and he poses the question of “would I be the first person you call?” and Brett is like you’re taking this too seriously, it’s a hypothetical situation. Also, Brett took one of his portraits from back home and gave it to Hayden. Hayden is happy about it and tells Brett how cute he looked and if he could have it (he looks so adorable).
I guess next chapter will be all about their date. I also have a feeling that Hayden will find out about what actually happened to Brett either because of a scandal (picture getting leaked) or because it will accidentally slip up, I just hope he doesn’t misinterpret it when that happens or that he doesn’t lose it, because we all know how emotional Hayden is. And again, I still feel bad about Brett, I don’t know how he does it but he’s too strong.

now I want to add that I love the fact Brett brought that portrait and gave it to Hayden, it’s such a nice detail especially because of what it symbolizes too. Brett saw all those photos of Hayden when he was younger and he looked happy, so he probably wanted to share a bit about him too. It’s interesting how Brett is serious and all dressed up in his portrait, such a contrast.
Tbh he brought his childhood pic and gave it to Hayden as well shows how much he kinda feel the emotional development in brett towards Hayden I m sure Hayden gonna find out what actually happened with brett and it's gonna break Hayden heart but Brett is very calm and collected even while he was being forced on bj his bodyguard asked for details of those people all he said "yah i remember it in very detail since I had nothing to do" I mean seriously he is not scarred by that incident is enough to show him mentally strong at so many levels but I still want to see them enjoying their very date

thank you for your summary! brett's cold rationality (at the cost of some very repressed emotions) consistently is soooo impressive but also scary and kind of sad too? especially because even while he was being assaulted he was making some rational calculus in his head about the best course of action - he's really learned in life that he has no one to rely on but himself. i really wonder when the harm done to him will register to him and those repressed emotions (from the incident, but probably throughout his life) finally bubble up. (go to therapy brett!)
i'm sure hayden will be so instrumental to brett finally being able to "let go" and FEEL emotions and be human...you can tell how much brett just seems softer with hayden too, even though he's keeping literally everything hidden from hayden. i also think hayden will find out eventually and i'm curious about how he'll react. i feel like brett will react very defensively so i'm curious how hayden will manage it.
It makes you wonder what's going through Brett's mind as he keeps certain details from Hayden. Like, I dont think he does this just because he feels its trivial or unimportant. Since Hayden confirmed his feelings for Brett, I'm pretty sure Brett knows Hayden won't just sit back and do nothing if he finds out he's been raped. However, I for one, cannot wait to see Hayden's reaction when he finds out. It's only a matter of time. I just hope Hayden doesnt misunderstand when he does

i think part of it is just that he's used to doing things alone as habit but also this desire to control everything on his own (like can you imagine if hayden was like "things are too dangerous for you rn to be running around like this" i think brett would take this as an attempt to control him/interfere with him he has super strong boundaries in that way) but ALSO i actually think he kind of doesn't think it's important? like it doesn't necessarily register that there are people who would want to know what happened to him and care for him in that way even if it doesn't result in anything
as usual, here is my summary:
They headed towards a place where it snows (artificial snow), since it doesn’t in LA. They also start wondering about what chemicals are being used to create that effect (lol). Hayden also seemed to revisit his conversation with Brett, the one they had at the theater. He said a theater stage is a screen with a picture that vaguely resembles reality, in a way that we still are aware it’s a fake world. “But even though the audience knows that, l’m willing to fall in love”. He also said that even if it’s a fake story made up by someone, the feelings are still real. Then Hayden opened his jacket and told Brett to come in closer and Brett was like “it’s not cold” but still approached him and they kissed. Hayden thanked Brett and said that he’s grateful (that Brett went along with him) and that he is experiencing happiness.
Then, they headed to a restaurant for dinner and on the way a lady ran towards her lover and called him “honey” so Brett started to remember that he agreed to use that word because it’s important to Hayden. For some reason he started to compare the assault with the time he used “honey” to stop Hayden and he mumbled to himself “What did you give me?”*.
After having dinner they went to Brett’s car and it seems they will have car sex.
*Throughout the date Brett is aloof, in the past he usually went along and teased Hayden but this time he was serious and not much in it. For us readers it would seem like he’s finally processing his feelings regarding the assault, but he’s also not paying it much mind so it’s kind of confusing. I hope with time he opens up his mind, he needs to let Hayden prove himself and show him how to /feel/ in the way theater evokes those feelings in someone.
Such a bittersweet chapter, the art was amazing, poetic in a sense. I can't wait for the English translation

I have a theory about the scene where Brett is comparing the gangrape with the scene with Hayden and the safe word. I think Brett realized that when he was being raped he knew that he had no control of the situation, he had no way of saving himself, so he did the only thing he could, which is to observe the individuals that were raping him at the time. When he compared this scene with his time with Hayden, he may be realizing that Hayden gave him the ability to choose the outcome of his situation, and that the option to be subservient is but one of two options.
In a lot of ways, even with his family, Brett is in a position of somewhat helplessness. He may have been able to adapt through the manipulation of people and situations to give him somewhat of a control, or the illusion of it, but ultimately his life revolves around the whims and wishes of his parents and societal expectations. I am hoping I am right, because if this is the case, then Brett might finally be realizing what can truly have with Hayden.

absolutely agree with your interpretation! brett's always thought of freedom as not being constrained by people and moving to his own (calculated) whims but i think he may be starting to see too how paradoxically someone's love can be "freeing" and how freedom can be actually be NOT having to constantly make rational calculations/moving people around on a chess board but a more unconditional and equal way of being with someone...feel like it's also this important step of realization in a negotiated bdsm relationship
no problem :D yes exactly, Hayden is adorable but Brett’s poker face and nonchalance makes me think there’s more to it.
