I would give anything for any rival to remain on contact with them. WE COULD HAVE HAD A CUTE YURI RIVAL??? Or Nagi getting with one of the boys??? I don't know, I just know that the potential characters were wasted :(( I know that not every character in a story needs to be used, but when creating such a small closed environment you have to use characters to their fullest! And I feel like, none of them were really used except the main two and maybe Rui. It's such a shame :((

Is it a expected reaction to that kind of situation in those times? Also kind of yes.

Still, humans react to such extreme trauma in varying ways. We see her blaming HERSELF for all the hurts she caused to Clartes, to Wellmy, and IORA AS WELL - as we see her prying for Iora to have a good life.
Is the punishment deserved? YES
Does she deserve to be listetned to and have redemption? Yes.
When not in front of Iora, we see her as a soft spoken and kind person. A smart one. And Savarin abuse changed her on a basic level. She wanted Iora dead not because she hated Iora, but because she thought Iora was Savarins daughter. Which?? Kind of valid stand point. Moral? No. No at all. Understandable in the world where you don't have rights? Ye.
