Remember her mother might have died at anytime and her family just lied. So technically her real birthday is only know to her vile grandfather and her mothers real day of death as well.
Idk cuz it seemed like both the dad and other brother (calm one) were like getting anxious because they already know the answer to the question. The scene just seemed like a strange scenario in general like the mother has no emotional connection with them in anyway and just used as a throwaway plot device to add to mc’s suffering
