Tbf a host’s job is basically acting for money. The difference, and why they don’t have a good reputation, is that their acting is real and from some perspectives a scam. They flirt, act and “love” their clients so they can get money, but everyone knows there’s nothing serious between a host and their client. Think of it as extreme fan service. To top it off, the more money you spend, the more attention you’ll get from a host you like, so it’s basically “pay up to cuddle with your crush that tells you lovely things”.
