If it was someone else would you think so cruelly of someone dealing with their childhood trauma? No. You can dislike Hyesungs bratty and selfish attitude but you can't judge someone's initial reaction to having their past traumas triggered. Even parents get depressed and can find it difficult to put on a brave face for their children in real life. Hyesung is obviously going to work through his trauma and be a better parent for him. He just has to deal with the initial shock of it all.
