I think that she may have felt that she only relied on his feelings for her. I can say that she did love him in the past, but I don't think she was in love with him. I think there's a very important time in a woman's life where they need to know who they are when they're by themselves. Both women and men have to know who they are to their core in order to become "one" with another person. & although it may seem unfair to Itou who was 10000% sure of his feelings, Ayado had the right to "live her life" and forgive herself not being "an obstacle" to the people around her when she fell n love the first time. But that's just my take on it!
& their future is left open ended because she announced that she got divorced.
I like how sensei changed her story line with this one! all of her work were fluffy and full of lovey dovey scenes. In contrast to this one, it had a bit of drama and unexpected turn of events! (￣ε(#￣)Σ
