Oh god, it was such a long journey, so painful, the characters have grown so much and have really faced so much pain.
There is something very important that this beautiful manhua reminded me: the family, many times, is the one you choose and not necessarily the one in which you are born.
Thanks to the author of everything, every drawing, every word, every tear that I have shed.

After the end of the series, I was hoping to find some comfort in "Garden of light" but I'm crying more than before. To read that Ash was practically left to die alone, bleeding, because the wound was not even the vital organs, or seeing the tears of an adult Eiji in front of those photos...killed me a little 'more.
Banana Fish is and will remain a great work but, fuck, what a pain, my god ...

Ash died the best way possible. If he had not met Eiji he would probably died alone while fighting. His life would remain dark. But then Eiji came and he learned how to love and be loved. Eiji protected him. Ash died while having the nicest thoughts, he didn't die in the battlefield like he had imagined.
Okay I agree that I would love to see him going with Eiji in Japan but i think this way, the series banana fish is more remembered

If I follow your thinking, where Ash deliberately chose to die in his favorite "mood", leaving others with some guilt that will devour them for the rest of their lives, it would mean for me to accept Ash's egoism in his decision.
And I can't really do it. I can't think that, at the end of everything, Ash has just become an egoist.
For all the abused real people who are going through hell to get out of their situation, I really hoped that MAPPA would give us a bit more hope in this final.
If you want, here the ch.31 raw
