as i understand it.
in a small rural town there is a shrine and a sacred ground you shall not enter, especially not during the time of the gods' absence.
I guess the father is kind of like the oracle of delphi. He loves a woman and has a child with her, but she is not a woman. His other children are the twins. The father has because of that unnatural love lost his mind and wants to protect his beloved child yuzuru, by eliminating all enemies. He eats and burns them.
To alleviate the situation the older twin takes yuzuru, who is too young to understand the whole situation, despite having heard of the twins before, to see the father. but it escalates the situation, the twin gets eaten, a fire breaks out (might be purifying fire) and father and twin die there, while yuzuru is probably badly wounded. after his recovery, his mom (unclear who that really is) remarries, his surpressed memories and all prior events, take away his speech. ryounosuke is there and gives him a family and life back. until yuzuru meets takumi the younger twin (unclear what he did up to this point, but it is known that he has been watching yuzuru the whole time), who used to be frail. he falls in love, but is still kind of out for revenge, at the same time he wants to keep yuzuru to himself. he wants him to remember his pain, and at the same time he wants them to be together forever in that room. yuzuru remembers and returns to the rural town and shrine by himself. there a fire breaks out, it is not clear why, probably he is trying to commit suicide. but instead he finds out all the ppl around him are normal, but he is the monster. because the wheels of fate started to turn again his desire for human meat will escalate and take over. so both yuzuru and takumi decide to return. they become some kind of deities. the minor plot is ryounosuke's feelings for yuzuru and the coworker of takumi. if they had managed to get a hold of the respective other's heart yuzuru and takumi might have turned out normal. but because it didn't happen they can live a normal life, while yuzuru and takumi have to disappear and return to the shrine.
