Their relationship seems pretty unhealthy to me; Keisuke should love Akane just the way he is rather than continually projecting his love for Mei into Akane. They're twins but they were obviously two very different individuals... ╥﹏╥ It would have been better if Akane and Keisuke had gone their separate ways after Mei's death, allowing themselves to heal emotionally.
That's what the entirety of ch 5 and 6 were about, him telling Akane to stop pretending to be Mei since he's fallen in love with Akane now. He forces Akane to visit Mei's grave with him to give them both the closure they need to move on as themselves in a relationship rather than as Mei and him.
It didn't seem that convincing to me, though; Keisuke came to the realisation that he had, apparently, come to love Akane a little too suddenly but, at the same time, also way too late, in my opinion - it almost seemed forced to me - but to each their own! :)))
I see what you mean, it didn't SHOW us him falling in love. Personally, i was fine with all the hesitation and serious thinking he was showing while looking at Akane as he pretended to be Mei, it was like he really did decide to move on. That's just me though.

I have a habit of always disliking female characters in fiction despite being a woman myself; they're too often just weak, fragile, overly feminine girls with weak personalities to boot but this girl, on the other hand, is amazing! I really love this crazy couple and I hope Kirishima will stop seeing other girls (or guys for that matter, lol) once Yoshino actually falls for him, which I really hope she will, at some point, because I ship this couple SO HAAAARD! ... I've been binge-reading this series for the past two days but I think I'm gonna skip out on the rest of it (Rules 2nd season). My heart simply can't take all the cheating and, unfortunately, this mangaka really LOVES making her characters cheat, time and time again, as opposed to actually having them develop as characters by letting them learn a lesson or two from all those stupid misunderstandings as well as all the pointless cheating.
Miyamoto-sensei is an extremely talented mangaka, however, it would've been nice if she'd just made her characters improve as people rather than having them repeat the same mistakes over and over again, dragging the story out for no apparent reason. ╮(￣▽￣)╭
Oh my god I'm so happy I'm not the only one who felt it ....the detachment between sex and feelings were huge in this manga and sometimes characters said "i like you " during their fling with a person they don't like ......it's so pointless and irritating
