Hi there, I’m an Asian (born and raised) and I do not condone adult-minor relationships bc as an adult, I prioritize the safety of all minors above all else. In my country, sexual abuse against minors is so rampant and not normalizing such relationships is one way to protect all these abused minors.

Just wanted to let you know that MANY Asians actually DO NOT normalize minor-adult relationships. Please do not claim that it is normal everywhere in Asia because it is NOT. Also, Japan is currently trying to raise their age of consent to 16 so please spread the good news.

And my dear, if people are disturbed by adult-minor relationships, their feelings are perfectly valid. They do not need to “educate” themselves about any country’s age of consent bc even in countries where child marriages are common, many people in those countries want to END child marriage. And speaking from a country whose age of consent used to be 12, I am extremely disgusted that they waited so long to raise it. My point is that just because it’s legal in their country, doesn’t mean it’s normalized or that people are ok with it. Not trying to pick a fight, just want to correct the misconception

When i say the age of minor relationship is i mean above age of 16 and i am both born and raised in asia .i do consider the safety of minors who are children in the first place too. Im not talking about child marriage here and when i said about minors i meant minors like 16 and 17 its very normal and common. I too don't like that the age of consent that is 13 here want it to change but all i was saying that its very normal for a 16 date 19 or 20 years old. I don't wanna fight either love just wanted to clarify what i meant.
Again i do not like and i am against child marriage and i know its disgusting but that wasn't my point in this comment.but just in general the age gap in asian and specially in east Asia is way more common than my sister and her husband have the age gap of 6 years old and no one see any problem here.he was in college and she was in high school when the met at work.it pretty common in east Asia i take back what i said about the whole Asia just in east Asia that ive been grown (∂ω∂)

I also wanna say i acknowledge that its ok people to be disturb but they have no right to attack the author or other people over fictional story. Cause at the end of the day its fictional. And for irl we talked about it (ㆁᴗㆁ✿)

It’s not right to “attack” but no creator can escape criticisms even over a work of fiction. And we are all entitled to our own opinion so if a creator’s work is offensive or disrespectful to a certain race or group of people or even just 1 person then voicing out their opinion is perfectly valid even if it was just a fictional work.

Tbh I only read very few comments so I don’t know if some people were attacking each other here but I will always uphold the belief that it is absolutely valid for people to voice out either their discomfort or fondness for a particular work of art. Mangago is also a free space for us all so friendly debates are common. No attacking, no cancel culture just plain voicing out of opinions peacefully.

Yes criticizing a work is absolutely ok and peoples opinion are totally valid and i love how mature you are and like how we are talking here but there are some people straight up insulting authors (in general too) and insulting others if they like a certain things that they don't like that i do not tolerate everyone can say and like whatever they want but others have no right to shame or attack or insult them again im so glad you're so understanding

I’m sorry you met people like that. Insulting, attacking, and shaming are all very toxic behaviors. No matter how much you over-explain, people only understand from their own level of perception. I admit I’m not black or white too, when my boundaries are crossed, I fight for them. But well, we gotta speak up about the things that are important to us. And hey, I’m glad for this little exchange of ours too.
