I read the crude-google-translate of the novel. He presents as an omega (as expected) but because in the previous chapters jinhyeon had mentioned that he hated omegas, he runs off to france. The angst isn't long. He comes back after the winter break? Feb I think. So they miss a couple of months.
He doesn't want to "break up" with jinhyeon so he just avoids him. Pretends he is sick, then leaves the country etc. But they eventually get back together and fwoop fwoop.
