Which don't make sense considering future outcome and what he is letting happen... but maybe he is one of these thoughtless kind character that let others treat him as doormat...
That doesn't make him easily forgiveable though. His naivety caused his daughter's downfall before. And his pushover personality is leading them to bankruptcy. I do understand that in these settings it's the wife who handles household stuff but that's not ironclad. He lacks a backbone and I hope he gets it this time around.
Yup also since its based on a medival setting - he is lord of the territory so when he goes bankrupt basically his whole territory do too, so not only he caused his own daughter's downfall as you wrote but also countless people living on his land...
