I didn't understand anything reading the scanlation - every scene and plot changes abruptly and doesn't make any sense.
Even after reading the spoiler I still found the plot ridiculous.

she's not just a servant. given her similar features to the emperor, she could be a half sister of the princess - or her parents were related to royalty somehow - and do have a claim over the throne to become empress. This is how stories like this usually go.
Yeah, but then she would be related to Ml and I'm not sure if I like that, and I think it would be refreshing for her to be a nobody and not some secret princess.
The original princess was actually related to him though, they're cousins but I get what you mean

the relationship between the dog MC and the prince was a cute start. But then every characters seems to fall flat, even the dog MC. Despite their different appearance, it seems every characters share one personality and mood. Everything feels flat and underdeveloped. Pity because the start was cute and interesting.
the mentality that believes in black and white world is too naive.
Seriously the ML was a good ML. I just couldn't follow the story with the MC as the narratiive.
It's a 1 star for me.
I don't find the main guy who was supposed to be some sort of genius to be decently smart. His behaviour is like that of a horny, average joe.
The dog guy acts too much like a dog to be a decent assassin - I mean you need a lot of brain for that job.
All in all this is like a mess of apocalypse, zombie, horny raging average characters.
I get it, the girl (in woman's body) has a young and innocent mindset, shes probably abused and broken by the blonde guy's "training" too, but I just cannot stomach this kind of character.
She has no redeeming characters I that I could see.

but I think she doesn't own anyone any good deed. She lives in a dog eats dog world - so in her past life she was used, now she learnt to use people.
Some people also question the love/romance between her and the prince - but given how purpose-driven both of them are, even if they have romantic feeling for each other, the priority would be how useful the other person can be for them first and foremost.
All in all I feel like she's a very likeable MC, she has a backbone and a selfish, very humane side - not all around saint-like which makes her interesting and feel real.
Her character is soooo good it's very refreshing
