There was this part of the story where they were finding parts of a corpse. They travelled to a village that was covered with fog. In there, they encountered a spirit of a girl, Aqing, who taps a stick at the ground. At first, they were scared of her, but they learned that she was harmless and she actually wants to help them. Eventually, she lead them to a corpse (it's not the corpse that they are finding) and Wei Wuxian did a ritual that can make him see the past in her body, to be enlightened on how she and the corpse died. To summarize what Wuxian saw, it was so devastating. The corpse, Xiao Xingchen a cultivator, and Aqing were killed by someone they took care of for years, not knowing that that man's intention is to kill Xiao Xingchen. Remembering it makes my kokoro breaks into pieces.
