I'm so scared it's going to be unrecognizable next season; and that I'll never get a chance to experience this story because ... homogenized/watered down until it's like any other anime and the last of this magical work... just isn't there any more, it'll be turned into something else. Sory to be a buzzkill, that's what *I* smell in the air when I hear little bits about all the great new changes that'll help the story' for the anime. Because not once ... not one time ... has it ever been 'good'. The way people are talking, thought I fear the producers (or whoever) is downright RABID to remove all the 'relationship' from the story ... one even said putting WWX in a mask and hints about a female ... *sigh* To me that's just censorship and censorship ... is obscene. Not love between two humans. I've been actually depressed since hearing some of it. It's kind of wrecking the anime for me, but the manga; I want to trust and am confident about the Novel translation staying true. SOrry. Obviously this has really been bothering me.
Lolol you wont be spoiling the plot if you read the sex part (i skimmed through mtl stuff and video stuff lololol too impaitient, and got the gist of the sex part) why not just go ahead and watch fanmade videos lol, trust me, no spoiling of the plot at all... It will still be worth reading those scenes in the perfectly translated ones after knowing all the plot.

I think you are mixing the anime and live drama adaptation. All you've said concerns the live drama adaptation and has nothing to do with the anime.
Actually, it was about the anime (after something someone was quoting to do with DCMay. I didn't even know there was a live reading.
However - I'd love it not to happen; I'd love nothing more than this project to stay the linked three level wondrous thing it's been but I also know just how badly stories can get twisted around when studios think they can make more $ homogenizing stories. Someday perhaps my hope will be greater than my doubt. I have none regarding translating the novel; even the Manhua updates are lovely. But when an animation studio says the word 'adaptation' ... proceed with caution. That's not prejudice, just life experience.

So far, it's a good sign that the animated series has followed the novel very closely, just rearranging the timeline a bit so that the flashback scenes are all together. Since that's the case, I have hope that the rest will be decently faithful to the source, though apparently they will tone down the romance, sadly. I'm glad they have kept the scene where WWX and LWJ are hanging out together nekkid in the outdoor bath, hehe. And they actually added the cute bit where LWJ bribes Li'l Apple to take WWX inside the Cloud Recesses. I really hope they will keep the part where LWJ makes WWX sleep in the bed with him the whole first night, too! I'm so glad that the manhua isn't leaving things out so far.
At least we still have the steamy fancomics the manhua artist made before getting the comic series! I've read that the live-action series won't be setting them up with any female characters (yay), but it will reduce their relationship to a bromance (boo). It seems to be only loosely based on the novel anyway, they'll apparently be travelling around ancient China solving mysteries together. I still think I'll watch it, though, because I bet the costumes and settings will be gorgeous, and it will be fun to see what the actors do with the roles. If they were going to have WWX and LWJ married off to anyone else I'd be too mad to watch it! ╥﹏╥
