Not knowing how to spell is not indicative of intelligence. Myung-il only finished middle school so it is not odd for his writing skills to suffer from that. Especially if after he's only been working jobs where writing is not a big part.

True and there are lots of reasons spelling could be bad. For instance, I have a form of dyslexia; I can't visualize words, so until I actually write them, I can't tell if they are spelled correctly or not. I can usually tell the spelling is incorrect once I see the word, but until I actually see it, I have no way to know.
