although half the time I read a story and am Influenced by the art. I mainly stay for the story! If you cannot read something based on a web novel, then leave. If you care so much about a fantasy world setting where being are often in random ass colors, LEAVE. Go read another effing story (╯°Д °)╯╧╧
I came for the art but art isn't the only thing that will make me read. If the story is shit, art won't make me stay. No one is forcing you to read this
The following will be somewhat spoiled, so sorry to those that hate having a story spoiled like I do. Do not read further ahead
.. Aight. Yall are calling this author racist and shit but has she said anything bad about black people? No. You are simply assuming things based off a change in skin tone in a fantasy set novel. To be racist, you have to at least look down on said skin tone. And as defined by the dictionary prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against a person or people on the basis of their membership of a particular racial or ethnic group, typically one that is a minority or marginalized.
She would have been"white", has been "white", born to "white" parents. She had darker skin due to having being blessed by the dark spirit king. Not because she is "black" She is not liked, not for the color of her skin but, for the connection she has with a particular spirit king and her predecessor who almost destroyed the effing kingdom.
Unless you can find an article on where this author is making jabs at people of color, in any of her work and not just overly tanned characters, i will not take this back.
If you do not like a story, simple, don't read, don't support, but what happens to when and if your claims of racism are false? Oh sorry, i assumed you were rascist cuz of one character and ruined your career but thats okay because we found out you aren't racist. My bad.
I wouldn’t necessarily call the author racist but the fact that her skin color changes is pretty disappointing. And no it’s not only because of the dark spirit that they hate her, it’s mainly because of her appearance because when she gets the light spirit and gets lighter skin they see her as beautiful and love her even though she still is connected to the dark spirit. I think people are mainly just upset because it’s set up as a story about a girl who’s hated by everyone because of how she looks and has to learn to love herself but since her skin color eventually changes it kinda makes all of that pointless I guess.
I don't believe the author is racist. I think they unintentionally fed into negative sterotypes and readers are allowed to think/say that's shitty without y'all telling them to shut up about it bc it makes you uncomfortable. Mewpower comment fits perfectly with how I was thinking.

No, it doesn't work like that.

Just because she has dark skin does not make her black.
