he’s random in the way he is now important to the story, he was shown in like 1 or 2 chapters prior and now his entire backstory is introduced, and i never talked about the other characters just this guy

Don't think he is a random addition tbh. There's already the implication that the guy was gonna play a (slight or not) bigger part in the whole story. The way he essentially got rid of Hyo Un when he was introduced + then how the MC talked about him + ordering the MCs death. The author should have done more about giving him a more obvious motivation but his place definitely isn't random.
