Just cause we didn't get a long ass chapter with only an internalised monologue of him regretting everything doesn't mean it's not genuine, that's how a sudden action like this one looks from the outside, by impulse he doesn't want him to die, maybe he doesn't love him as much as he claims, but for as long as he cares about him even just as like and not love, he can't go trough it withouth his power, period. He wanted to use yiseon's feelings to keep him close, and yiseon used it in turn to obtain what he wanted, I'd say that's fair enough. Tbh I find it funny how some want him to suffer more when he isn't even half the asshole some tops are in the popular manhwas nowadays lmao
