It felt a bit empty but going further or deeper would be too heavy for it's dark comedy theme so I think putting on the comedic part of the whole lines about pain and suffering of both mcs as part of the writers rejected manuscript is the perfect way to break the depth. It stays light hearted till ending and we get to see deetaaaa
