Other than that, I ABSOLUTELY agree that rape/ assault has been normalised here and it drives me crazy but the initial intention of using the word grape instead of rape (again principally/ originally I mean on other platforms) is also valid and a way to talk about it so I think it shouldn’t be mixed up here.

There's not really a reason to use it on here though. No one's comments are getting deleted for using the word rape. I get using grape on social media platforms that might delete them but people are starting to just say grape all the time instead of rape. Even in person. It's an uncomfortable word to use but necessary. (Not trying to argue just stating why I think we shouldn't use grape/rape interchangeably unless absolutely necessary)

It's not just "HERE ONLY"... not sure why you capitalized that but ive also used the word rape on social media and my comments weren't deleted... even on tiktok

I'm not sure why some get deleted and some don't. I've only really seen videos get deleted with explicit content

I tend to use the emoji on here because the word feels so much more permanent when it's typed out and also because (thankfully) these characters are not real people, so then when I use the actual word to talk about real life events it still holds weight. For me I think it's not to become desensitized. Sometimes I'll use the emoji on social media if I'm worried someone might be triggered and I'm not talking about an actual event (cuz that would feel like minimizing), but I agree I can't believe ppl are actually just saying "grape" in real life. Like there's really no reason for that and I agree, it almost serves to lessen the weight of the word and action

That makes sense, I just hope people don't get too comfortable using words that minimize the gravity of SA/rape OR with the many BLs (I know it also happens in GL and hetero, etc) that romanticized it. Even though its fictional, there are many people that are desensitized/impressionable to such topics bc of the amount of "victim ends up with rapist/sexual assaulter" content they're consuming. Idk, it just seems disconcerting seeing how popular rape BL's are (almost seems like they are more popular than consensual ones).

Yeah, but it is a bit of a skewed data pool too since there are a ton more non con BLs than consensual. I just hope that people can separate everything on here from reality and not just mindlessly soak it in. Ngl also seeing this kind of trend in thinking in the romantasy book realm, but I feel hopeful when I come across sane people in the comments like here

I don't too, it's nice to talk to and receive calm replies. A lot of the time I don't comment bc I don't want others to feel like I'm "condemning" them but sometimes I just have to after seeing all the rapist support/victim blaming It makes me sick to my stomach how normal rape/SA in BL has become and how desensitized people come off as in the comment sections. Tbh, the only defense people can give is "well its for the plot" or "it's not real, its fictional". Which isn't a valid argument when millions of women, children, and men have been SA/raped or sexually abused growing up. Being appalled at the detailed rape scenes, that also usually end with the victim "feeling good/getting off and ending up with the rapist" has nothing to do with "not being able to separate fiction from reality" Rape is not romance or dubcon, let alone consensual. For example, I like my fair share of dark romance but when it starts adding in Rape/SA, its no longer romance. Its a horror/thriller, etc. You know? A lot of people seem to be getting these things confused

Yeah comments sections can be so unnecessarily hostile it's really disheartening that we can't have productive and civil discourse anymore. I definitely do notice there being a lot of rape apologists which is crazy alarming. Like I think we can all agree if an aspect of a story is messed up or toxic, it's not like enjoying the other aspects of a story means ur awful. Ppl seem to see any acknowledgment of a work's shortcomings as a personal attack, as if a story can't be both good and flawed. Enjoying true crime doesn't equal condoning criminal behavior. I wonder why this same attitude can't be had when it comes to rape. If we could just hold space for these two truths to coexist then maybe ppl would stop feeling compelled to defend rape and victim blame. It's also very important to discuss appropriate ways of depicting rape, because some rape scenes are prolong and detailed simply for sexual gratification. In those cases (like with Jinx) it's necessary to be vocal that the rapist (seme in jinx) is not a good person. I'm just glad no one likes the seme and no one wants the uke to end up with him

FR, i completely agree with you. I'm not going to say I've never been rude or argued with someone on here. But I can say it's only every too rapist apologists/victim blamers and those that enjoy when authors sexualize rape by prolonging/detailing the scenes for readers sexual gratification. Sorry I don't have much more to say, thank you for the productive conversation Hopefully, more people will grow and learn to be less defensive/angry when someone critiques BL's with such dark topics/tropes. It'd be nice

Nothing major. They just cant stand feminine men or so called twinkified men They're under a delusion that any feminine man is fanservice for womem who love hetero romance with misogynistic storylines/characters. Idk how they made that connection. Apparently, giving characters a permanent six pack is normal though. If she wants super buff male characters she should just read something else. Anyways, they're definitely... strange to say the least. They proceeded to insult me multiple times and then blocked me. Not saying I didn't antagonize them though.
