Fujoshi_Mom February 2, 2024 2:36 pm

Sometimes feelings are not clear cut. But... If u date someone who is still hung up with their ex, be ready to be heart broken. Especially those fickle ones. I don't like these kind of people who are not emotionally ready to love 1 person fully

Communication is on point! Wished more relationships are like these. Also seme is super patient and nice, despite his initial hesitation.

Fujoshi_Mom January 27, 2024 11:57 am

So funny and silly at the same time. Well at least they got one thing right, communication even mid sex lol. I thought I would hate seme but heck he is so immature but at least he aint an asshole ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭

..turning into historical era of Stockholm syndrome or what? (〜 ̄△ ̄)〜

    LynxSeoltang January 15, 2024 2:47 pm

It's not Stockholm syndrome when the other person voluntarily stayed with the person. Yeonjo planned to be there. To be the MLs lover so he can complete his revenge. He's not forced to stay.

That's not a requirement just one of the ways it comes about. It can still be Stockholm! "It is supposed to result from a rather specific set of circumstances, namely the power imbalances contained in hostage-taking, kidnapping, and abusive relationships." Note the abusive relationships. Yeonjo is living with him, must submit to sex whenever he wants, can NOT leave the yard, and now has been terrorized against acting out by threatening other people. That's pretty captive. I'd say developing any feelings for the man responsible falls under Stockholm, personally.

Y'all should stop tagging everything with Stockholm. It feels like when a kid learned a word and started using it in everything.

    1. Yeonjo is not captive. He chose to live with him, he's not forced to.

    2. The sex is also part of Yeonjo's revenge plan. He's trying to make him fall for him

What I'm trying to say is, both ML and MC are playing mind games. That's why their relationship is complicated and interesting. Stockholm Syndrome only applies if only one of them are being manipulative. In this story, BOTH of them are trying to manipulate each other.

Yeah the power dynamic at play here is enough for “Stockholm syndrome” to sound so wrong that it feels like they’re insulting the characters and author’s intelligence.

Lol imagine trying to sound smart when you're too dumb to understand the concept that Stockholm syndrome is about catching feelings for someone who has power over you in some way and that Lima syndrome is falling for the captive in the same way, and that it can actually be both. What an idiot. Run along child, you're not as smart as you think you are.

    Esmeralda January 15, 2024 9:05 pm

While Stockholm Syndrome is a term commonly used to describe a psychological phenomenon where hostages develop positive feelings towards their captors, it’s more of a pop culture reference than a scientifically established condition. Behaviors associated with Stockholm Syndrome can be better explained by other psychological mechanisms, such as survival instincts or adaptive responses to trauma. Stockholm Syndrome as a term was invented by a psychologist working for the Swedish police to describe (mostly female) bank employees who were taken hostage and felt sympathy with their captors. (btw they felt sympathy because police told them it was their duty to die on the job and they had to negotiate with their captors) Stockholm Syndrome does not exist (not in DSM-5, etc) & was invented to cover up police misconduct.

Yeonjo does show some adaptive coping mechanisms to trauma—he’s constantly trying to take control of his situation, trying to seek out information & is constantly evaluating his situation. Stockholm Syndrome is a misinterpretation of victim’s complex conscious & unconscious responses to trauma in situations of abuse or kidnapping.

or maybe you just all need to be informed that stockholm syndrome isn't even recognized by the american psychological association or listed as a formal mental health diagnosis in the DSM and was instead invented to excuse police incompetence.. you should read up on it.
while the concept of the manipulation of a victim and their misplaced sympathy/love for their captor DOES exist for sure, its not a diagnosis or condition that exists in and of itself. we could say the victim themself shows symptoms of a certain other mental illness or disorder that played into the result of developing these feelings, but ultimately there are no findings or research that shows it can just pop out of nowhere the way you are trying to describe it here.
the mc for sure does not have stockholm syndrome. its just that they have a fucked up sort of relationship that is definitely not passable irl loll

This comment is so overdue. I feel like it needs to be posted EVERYWHERE on this website...maybe even part of every single bl description. Because some people out here love to spout bs and tirelessly repeat a word / terms they've heard before but have no idea what it means.
