Just in case if you're wondering, manhwa is largely different than its source material (novel). The manhwa toned down a lot, and I mean a looot of scenes to make it suitable for majority of readers, so if you decide to read the novel, just know that you should be prepared to read a horror novel instead of a bl cause many scenes in the novel can be considered gross, grotesque and unsettling. Dawon and Lee Kyung do ends up together and it's a happy ending. But to reach that point, there's many obstacles that they must overcome, such as defeating Bae Jaemin and Tragedy Collector with the help of Lost Star.

Why is the novel kind of horror?

Is it horror because we got to see a lot more of the past story of the yeonhyong (idk the guild spelling but the guild members of seo dawoon)

Or it is because of what will happen in their revenge in the future?

It's been a long ago since I have last read the novel, so some details may be incorrect.

The novel can be considered horror because many monsters designs are straight out of horror movie, the eerie atmosphere of the battlefield and the gore depicted on their revenge victims, and also the massive trauma that our MC goes through can be considered quite brutal in the psychological aspect. Throughout my reading session, I am left wondering if the author actually has a hate boner for our Lee-Kyung(MC) because the poor baby can't catch a break. The manhwa also change some part that can be deemed unsuitable to be illustrated to the majority of readers. Despite all this, I still recommend people to read the novel, because I want to tell people to not let the illusions of MC being helpless blinded you, because he's actually the one carrying everyone in the whole series.

In the novel, during Yeonhong(Dawon guild) revenge against one character named Koo Gyungman, his half brother named Koo Heeseo impregnate him using an unknown substance, cut off all his limbs, and kept him awake in that tortured state until he gave birth, presumably for 9 months. In the manhwa, they changed it to Koo Gyungman being imprisoned by his half brother Koo Heeseo and being used as blood bag, to slow down the progression of his chimera curse.

There's also a lot of scenes left out, particularly the nightmare dungeon arc where Lee Kyung has a bonding time with Woo Ragi(one of Yeonhong members).

I honestly never felt like the MC is pathetically helpless like a lot of people in the comments herd say.. because the amount of psychological trauma he went through is INTENSE and I feel that after reading only the manhwa.. So now I will DEFINITELY read the novel, because I need more! More brutal!

I don’t get why others think MC is helpless I mean yes he’s weak (Necromancer isn’t like a mage or sworsman class) but he’s so mentally stronger than the other guild members and he endured so much that after so many psychological tortures, he’s still standing strong. If it wasn’t for MC, almost the entire members and this story would never have happened. He’s carrying the entire plot

When we were showed the pov of seme, that the truth was that he always liked uke. A lot if his actions were really annoying and without sense, because they were always advised by this friends, especially the blonde guy. I feel happy that I am not the only one feeling this.
