It could be because he had to take care of mitsuki very early on. It seems like joe’s is the only parental figure on mitsuki’s life. So taking care of such a small child at his young age (i’m guessing joe and kanna are in their mid 30s?) definitely was too much on joe’s plate in the beginning and kanna deserve to live her life to the fullest too…
