THIS WAS SO GOOD
“don’t judge on first appearance” really applies to everything in this manga! at first, i thought this was going to be a story about:
1. the mc slowly teaching the an innocent and pure main lead about the world, while also taking advantage of his innocence
2. and because his parents hate him and disowned him, the main lead becomes attached to any love he can get, and becomes really possessive (to the point that he’ll try to isolate the uke) because he imprinted on the mc
3. Then the 2nd lead, who has known the mc for longer and is in love with the mc will try to eliminate “the threat” by distancing the mc from main lead somehow
4. then main lead distances himself (misunderstandings ensue) but then pursues the uke anyway because his love is too strong or something
5. then mc has some reason why can’t be together with the main lead, whether it be a traumatic relationship, idk stalking, abandonment issues etc.
6. Some stuff happens in the middle, they go through something together, and get closer somehow, then they get together.

but everything is pretty much different!
1. although the mc does take advantage of main lead’s innocence, the seme starts learning and CONNECTING WITH OTHER PEOPLE on his own, and actually starts helping the MC back! And part of the reason why the mc doesn’t want to get together with the main lead is because he believes that the main lead is too pure to love someone like him, someone with bad intentions (which isn’t the real issue, it’s because of his abandonment but we all tell ourselves reasons to not do something to cover up the truth),
2. which actually confused me at first because the mc says he can’t be in a relationship, even though they both love eachother?? That part got me so confused, but when he said “because romantic love will eventually end” everything clicked together!
3. because instead of one of his previous relationships being traumatic, it’s more because most of his relationships ended early yet not badly, so he doesn’t understand if he’s done any wrong, which has instilled the belief that love doesn’t last long in romantic relationships, and that’s why he’s reluctant. He doesn’t actually understand it’s not that romantic love is temporary, it’s that he was never in love in the first place.
4. and the main lead comes to a beautiful compromise and says “let’s just.. not have a label!”
I feel like this is actually better than the traumatic relationship trope because it doesn’t blame any one off character for the plot at fault, it’s just a series of faults caused by himself that he’s now misunderstood as something that will always happen, which is more realistic than one 1 dimensional evil character who ruins everything.
5. and instead of the black-hair coworker being a plot point made to move the two closer together, he’s an actual person who cares about the mc and understands the mc’s history of relationships.
6. Unrelated, i also really like that the main character is so adamant about his view of the main lead that he completely dismisses the main lead’s feelings. it’s so real

Similarities and (sort of but not really) disappointments
6. Although, the mc does have abandonment issues and the main lead did distance himself, we never get to see him distancing himself (there’s like 3 panels where he’s actually gone or something) and it’s pretty logical for why the mc doesn’t want to enter a relationship.
7. Though it does accentuate the main lead’s naivety, the fact that he proposes to the mc when the mc has stated that he doesn’t want to be together, is crazy work. But i think that’s just to speed up the plot. It does make sense though in the context of his character (i guess?)

I’m kidn of tired of writing all of this, in conclusion, bl CAN have the different plot from the usual stuff i read and tell some authors to stop using one off characters or random coincidences to fuether the plot. You have your main characters, USE THEM!!! GIVE THEM CONSISTENCY AND COMPLEXITY!!!!!
