This is gonna be all over the place, fair warning.
I should’ve stopped after the first chapter but I locked in cuz I always finish shit unless it’s really really bad, but like I kinda wish I would’ve stopped.
This was just the train crash that kept giving - a plane hit it and it exploded again. Then a propane truck flipped over the wreck and it combusted once more.
You just can’t take your eyes away when you’re already looking.
I don’t even know where to begin with this. It’s not even that I deplore it, but I do hate it.
Taking away the first part of the story, which is horrifying and sets up the entire ambience of the story - You find it hard to fully step away since the bottom seems to like(?) it to an extent (but not really this is fully abuse… god it even felt wrong to write that, bottom just canonically doesn’t like to think, please someone get him a common sense teacher asap) and even then the top always takes it way too fucking far.
Top is so emotionally constipated he makes the bottom suffer and the reason he doesn’t like stupid people is becuz he himself is a fucking dumbass. He meshes with other idiots becuz he can’t seem to fucking think for a moment before fucking acting. He turns his brain off and not even a single brain cell can light anything in him to ignite a thought.
And SPOILERS BELOW!
yes the bottom is dumb, he clearly wants to take it easy in life and he’s not too different from some other cookie cutter himbo bottoms seen - it’s just he got the worst fucking luck with tops. He was in HIS FULL RIGHT TO SLEEP WITH WHO HE WANTED SINCE THE TOP DID NOT WANT TO DATE HIM. However, given how genuinely abusive the top is, you just KNEW shit was gonna go side ways.
I can’t really expect this story to get any better really.
I always caught something was off with the romance aspect of this story. Cause at first it really seemed like maybe, just maybe, the king and saintess like Nina as a child, kind of like an adopted daughter. That they appreciated her coming into their space and turning things around.
But as the story progressed even after they introduced the prince, I knew something was off.
And when Nina confirms her feelings for the king and the king’s interest seemed like paternal-like I knew it was fucking over.
GOD WHYY WHY do they add age appropriate 2nd leads only to decide to go the opposite direction? If I had a nickel for every time this happened I’d have too many.
Fuck I’m always ok with an age gap BUT NOT IF U MET THEM WHEN THEY WERE A CHILD? it’s like thinly vailed grooming (if Nina wasn’t mentally someone else) but even then Nina still has less of a position of power - she’s someone who could be cornered by someone like the King and even the prince if he so chose - which is why it’s clinical to me that this was the route they went with.
Like someone needs to give the authors a fucking NEWSFLASH: just becuz a person transmigrations or goes back in time doesn’t make them fair game for romance with adults.
It’s fucking weird homie.
Aside from that the story aspect was ok, but even then the ending was lackluster. All that buildup for naught.
I read this on other site and decided to come out some thoughts on here for when I’m rereading BL and choosing what’s worth the reread.
Overall it’s an ok read, the main couple is extremely cute at times but BY GOD the misunderstandings drag on. It’s like they can’t seem to remember what communication is - hell even if they had slight miscommunications, you’d think they’d be capable of critical thinking skills for some of the many piled up miscommunications.
It really could’ve wrapped up wayyyyy sooner but seemed to drag on for story sake, I can’t believe I’m gonna say this but any jealous trope, travel trope, etc. would’ve been better to carry the plot OR maybe, just maybe, their work. As chefs.
Either way for as much as I complain I thought it was pretty cute. I like chef for as emotional stunted and one dimensional he is. The MC is a little childish, but really not the worst offender of this. He’s clearly always been in love with chef and he turns to mush when it comes to anything about him.
As for the best part? The redhead. MC is fucking strong to not have slept with him once. It was goddamn criminal not to give him more of a story.
I’m prattling and 100% overhyping him, but I just think that he’s so good. He gives off such a mature vibe despite being objectively drawn as, in my opinion, a stereotypical BL bottom, and it’s refreshing.
Now before I get put on a stake let me dive into what I mean by it.
Jawook is evidently made to be a pretty guy. There’s no denying he’s made to be a BL bottom and with it, some of his initial actions may come off as immature and unreasonable, but the more you read the story the quicker you realize he’s actually incredibly smart and aware. He’s in love initially, sure his actions don’t make sense in some ways, but all adults are never 100% there. And he’s so quick to realize, analyze, and fix. He doesn’t let go of what I initially considered a doomed relationship, which was honestly annoying at first, but then the communication was SOOO GOOD. He took the chance he lost at first and finally, finally talked to gyum the way it should’ve been. It was like the switch in his finally flipped and that “adult” we see in some panels when he’s working and not worried about his relationship with gyum come through to its totality.
Gyum’s chill. I mean he has his own reasons and complexities as a character, but I can’t say it’s not one I haven’t seen before. I like how he behaves with jawook once he allows himself to be in love.
As for the second couple, this is all just personal opinion- I just honestly couldn’t have cared less.
Sometimes second couples just don’t hit when u attach to the first couple. I like 2nd couples when they’re just that - a second couple - not the plot device to the second or third season. I started with one of em I wanted to end with em so I am happy to see that they continue, but man.
“I'm convinced the MC doesn't have 2 brain cells to
rub together to generate enough heat to propel any sane thoughts forward.” - B*to comment, ch 57.
I had to come here just to release some anguish I had for reading this. I was in genuine pain trying to get though this story. The only saving grace it had was the ML. Somehow throughout this entire story of push-and-pull it was always him pushing while the MC pulled away, and the ML really really should’ve just walked off at some point and let him fall.
I get that they’re high school kids, I do, but at some point he should’ve stepped back and started seeing that the ML loved him for who he was. He was ALWAYS ALWAYS reassuring the MC and doing what he could for him, and the MC never gave enough for him back like ever. Their fights were refreshing because at LEAST ML didn’t shy away from calling him out on it.
Cuz it seems like just because he’s the smaller, omega, weaker type he can get away with hurting the ML but really he shouldn’t???? He wasn’t thinking at all? He was just always afraid of the ML hurting him when in reality he was the one causing all the issues in the relationship? (Even when the ML would misspeak like saying he hated omegas it was to try and assure the MC he’d love him if he was an alpha and yet he’d immediately make it something bad). It was just exhausting at some point, like someone digging for a negative and always being in their mind for it. Like they’re waiting for the ball to drop and they’re always ready to run away.
Either way, MC BETTER put his fucking big boy pants on and treat the ML right after all his fuck ups. Idk if he deserves anymore after all of em.
The story, the pacing, the art, the characters, everything was sooo good.
It was so sweet I think I have cavities that r gonna pass down through my generations - shits gonna be hereditary.
I genuinely can’t even begin to like, deep dive into anything because I’m just so satisfied with everything. It starts off like a “regular” story, not in a bad way of course (if that makes sense?) and then somehow evolves into the fluffiest most greenest forest you’ve ever seen with the romance and their relationship.
Let me see if I can formulate how good this is. From the beginning, you have a strong plot device. It’s intriguing and even without their backstory you’re still left wanting to read which is immediately a fucking HELL YES. But then THEN YOU GET THEIR CUTE ASS BACKSTORIES AND THEIR GENUINE Y E A R N I N G. It’s just so beautiful.
I think what makes it so special is the mutual and g genuine obsession and love both of them have for each other. Like it’s ridiculously cute. The fact it didn’t devolve itself into toxic BL romantic tropes really also added to their relationship and made it all the more gratifying of a read.
Came to leave a review after reading it elsewhere but it’s crazy how perspectives be different on other sites.
They considered him a green flag up until a certain point of the story but nahhh the top def had a few loose screws since the beginning.
aside from that, he really isn’t red, he’s orange.
In terms of “yandere”, he’s really not. By the end of the story he’s a chill guy again with the MC. Like yeah he’s jealous but it’s not like he’s crazy possessive over the bottom. They don’t particularly play on that as much as they did in the beginning.
The story itself is kind of ok, I can’t really fault it. I liked the premise just fine, and though it was confusing towards the end I didn’t hate the direction of it. Whether it was or wasn’t, the happy ending was what mattered the most.
Ahhh, it’s such a lost cause. It was an ok story over all, but I really liked the second lead. There’s no way the bottom deserves him to begin with, but maybe if he confessed sooner they would’ve had a better chance? Idk it just sucked overall.
The top in this story kinda sucks, he’s a bully at first. Whatever, it’s not even worth like a vent for the story cuz you kinda expect this story to go where it’s gonna go.
And then they have to go make the 2nd top suck a lil cus ya know everyone likes him a lil too much. Might as well.
This story is very human, and it can come to the frustration of some, and the excitement of others.
The way that it is written is both good and bad.
More good than bad if I had to decide, but the frustration of his humanity won’t cease.
The top shows to have a certain level of maturity that the bottom lacks, and not for not having it, but due to his past and his decisions he sort of lacks an emotional understanding from where he stands when they meet again.
They able to meet in the middle at some point in the story, which is where you finally FINALLY are able to breathe a sigh of relief, but of course there are still a lot of frustrating feelings left with all of the bottoms decisions and all the overwhelming love the top has for him. They have good communication up to a point, it takes a bit for the top to break into that. And then it goes back to 0 and we’re left to rebuilt it again because of unpacked traumas from the bottom once more.
The other instances I have to address is the top’s sheer will to hold onto this first love as fiercely as he did. Again it’s as endearing as it is frustrating. Sometimes seeing what he had to go through to get to it, it can leave you feeling like maybe he should’ve picked himself up at some point OR it was the most romantic thing a man could’ve done. He’s hot then he’s cold due to the constantly game of push and pull of the relationship but even when he’s cold there’s no denying that he came back. He was always going to come back. It was always him whether he was cold with him or not, because he still loved him, he just didn’t want to get hurt for what seemed like the umpteenth time by the same guy.
Either way it’s all about perspective with this story really and how you feel about certain types of people.

I was kinda nervous with the love triangle aspect, but was really pleasantly surprised when it didn’t fully go that way.
I mean it’s kinda there but not really, and the main couple being fully fluffy and having hot scenes together was enough to sign me tf up on board to this.
The ex was kinda annoying at first when he came back, but he did add to it.
The second couple overall, toxic, I liked their backstory well enough and I do like the direction that they took overall - though it would’ve definitely added to their story if it would’ve been more fleshed out, it doesn’t particularly disappoint without it.
It was overall a satisfying enough end.
