hey guys it's been a long time since i read omegaverse. what's the difference between marking and imprint? someone help me
Don’t quote me on this but I think imprinting happens mutually like they imprint on each other and mix their scents. Marking is something the alpha does to ‘mark’ the omega as his. Though I do think that authors use the words interchangeably.
iirc (aka take it with a pinch of salt bc authors can change the rules if they want to),
scent marking - pheromone exchange (temporary marking) they did in the beginning
imprinting - temporary marking (may last longer than the scent thing, a bit more personal and intimate)
marking (in all sense) - permanent bonding usually done when the omega is in heat or when the heat and rut happen at the same time, usually ends with a permanent bite mark and knotting (may be optional). some omegaverse make the partners unable to feel others' pheromones or be able to affect anyone else (other than their partner) with their pheromones
