Hmmmm. I don't think so. I think that you are probably seeing a skewed example based on the school you go to? I mean correct me if I'm wrong, but do you go to a more low income school? Like I find how much you hear stories of sexual assault really do depend on the income level of the school. For example, my school isn't exactly well off, but we have a wider variety of income level from students. It ranges from upper middle class but who still can't afford to send their kids to private school to lower-middle or lower class. And you generally will only hear stories of sexual assault from the kids of more lower-income families.
Other than that, it's also usually the lower income students who do drugs and vape or drink in the bathrooms etc, largely because the environment they were raised in normalized those behaviors. They also have less stable home environments and family issues (at least the ones I know do) and hang around more dangerous people, all perhaps contributing to a greater likelihood of getting sexually assaulted?
Oh wait, I just found this statistic, " People with a household income under $7,500 are 12 times more likely to report instances of sexual assault or rape than people with a household income over $75,000."
So its more likely just that your school just isn't a good example in that the data there is skewed.
It's probably more common than you think myself and most women I know in my life have been assaulted to some extent.
Not sure about the comment from Mr. Taco but it IS more common than people think. I find that it doesn't quite matter regards to income bracket. It's kind of unsettling actually how stories get skewed when it comes from the richer end of the bracket. I heard of a story where she was SA'd and it segued to her being a tucked-away mistress. The things people just accept is surprising and it's hard to say anything about it when it's a life you've never lived.
