I believe that, in South Korea, if a person continues their studies after graduating, and eventually works for the government, they are not required to serve their mandatory military service because they will be serving their country in a different way... So his friend being a TA means he is probably going to be a professor and, therefore, completed his bachelors' in 4 years, while the ml probably did his mandatory military service of 2 years and is still in his 2nd or 3rd year of his bachelor degree... probably

For those who think otherwise, idc that's ur opinion, what I share is the truth, she is the kind of character that I can't like in shounen, I know in later chapter she dies and new personality is born which I like better, but still dropped it anyway cause the plot was getting boring.
