this is a true slow burn and it deals with politics very intriguingly. i liked how he did have three concubines and struggled to let go of paul. i think it would’ve been so cliched if he remained single for over a decade just b/c of his love for paulina. it’s very realistic with how all the elders are pressuring him. the story is so so so good for you to drop it this early on to the story. i recommend you pick it up because truly, it’s so refreshing to see how both characters deal with love and their duty as the emperor and knight. it’s not one of those stories where “oh i can throw away everything i have for them” yk? and i absolutely loved how realistic it was because they people are in their thirties. they’re not teenagers with puppy love.
