i get what u mean, but at the same time there are modern day couples who have just as large age gap, whether that be in japan or in western society. the only reason people seem to be having a problem with it is bc he’s been looking after her since she was a child. admittedly it is pretty strange in some ways, and it is questionable at what time did he start seeing her as a woman, but we also have to take into account that she also had feelings for him, and they are seemingly stronger than his. if i’m not wrong i’m pretty sure she was the one who ignited this relationship and if she was the one to ignite the relationship, then i believe it’s okay. im the beginning it doesn’t seem that he has definite romantic affections and feelings for her, it was moreso an abundant amount of care and consideration he held for her, which later developed through the story. ofc i don’t really accept how they were getting intimate and stuff bc she is still underage and though it’s the modern day and teens don’t usually follow such a traditional belief, bc of the fact that he’s her teacher, i do think that it’s a bit inappropriate for them to be consummating atm. i also agree that it’s really weird in some aspects but that’s only bc of the fact that we know he’s known her since childhood. ofc im not trying to invalidate your opinion bc it’s not wrong, and there is a point to it!!
