my guess for his guilt would be the fiancé. he didn't tell him about her and is feeling guilty. but I have my doubts that she is really is his fiancé. maybe she just wants to be or it was arranged for her to be (like that thing they do to find partners, omai or something similar). and she is probably his boss's daughter and he just can't say no (maybe that was the reason for him wanting to quit the job, because he didn't want to go trough it). or he did say they can try it out before they reencounterd. these are the most popular kind of twists in this kind of situation ╮(￣▽￣)╭
