This was a really cute story. Even I thought that Enomoto was trying to bring Hagino and Haruna closer (I actually started thinking this was gonna be a sad story) but then he fumbled and Hagino eventually figured out everything.
This was honestly so much better than Light and Shadow. Of course I like Eli & Edna's story but the art, the storytelling, pacing, spotlight on each character, showcasing relationships are all better in this one.
I loved that Edna is as powerful as ever. Her loyal subjects like Kian touched my heart in both stories. The admiration and the relationship between Edna and her son was beautiful as well. I liked how Alex and Yessica's relationship developed. I liked how soft and wise Eli has become. I also liked how all the characters had their moments. I would have liked more family bonding moments though —with the whole family, Cayden and his wife included.
The only thing I guess I was troubled with was probably the fact that Yessica decided to be the queen of her country. It's nothing wrong, of course. But she and Alex would have to stay away from each other for a really long periods of time, not to mention how busy they both would be. I can't help but think that she could have found another better solution. It somehow seemed kinda forced to make her the queen.
Except for the beginning and kinda fast pacing, I really liked the story. In my opinion, it had much more potential than what was given.
The balance between serious and funny moments would have been just about right if not for the kinda choppy feeling due to the pacing.

Yeah, the main points are getting across but storytelling is much more than that. Connecting points as seamlessly as possible is also important.
