The first story is about an alpha who was too afraid/lazy to meet his world's expectations of an alpha. He left his fear and laziness relegate him to a mediocre life as a beta. He hates himself for living a beta life but he is terrofied that he won't cut the mustard as an alpha.
I don't believe for one minute that Mashiro hated him. I am inclined to think that Mashiro never noticed him. He hated Mashiro for succeeding. He hated Mashiro for living his life without noticing the do nothing coward in the office. A jealous, lazy coward.
I only finished the first two chapters because I was waiting for this guy to be killed.

I am inclined to agree with you. The art was good but the story felt like something was missing. Like one minute there's conflict then next sex. The poor dialogue didn't help unfortunately. ┑(￣Д ￣)┍
