big thank you to the translator! you did a splendid job and in such a short time too to boost! i hope your pillow will always stay cool at night, and that things in life goes smoothly for you.
as for this whole arc, man i'm so glad i wait until now to finish it in one sitting. you can say this story is "Jinhyeong's journey to learn how to be "human" again" but man each and every arc is just so meaningful. it may cover very simple topics like family, colleagues, school, ex - but each leaves such an impression on me, and like the dialogues, wow it can cut really deep without being to draggy/angst. and it teaches you life lessons alright! i have said this before about the author but man they are such a good person. seriously. they could've ended this arc with Jinhyeong and Songrik never had their last meeting, but they chose to write it to give each character a closure. they even gave Songrik a somewhat happy ending: he had a found family, had a high school degree and a job, and even met his mom again. the author portrays the ugliness of the world real well real realistic, but at the end of it they really want us to learn how to be a decent person, and want us to have our happy ending just like Jinhyeong and Songrik.
what a great author, and a great person.
9th grade? i know these stories dont tend to be grounded in reality anw but that was a bit much, no? like i had a brief hockey phase and the few players that i knew all started hockey when they were in pre-school or primary school. in fact most pro athletes start early... sure it's for plot's sake but i feel like the author could have made things more believable to people who actually know a thing or two about this sport. i guess they dont care that much because most fans care more about the romance aspect than the sport aspect. oh well
The even more unrealistic part is having such an awkwardly down bad hottie LMAO. But jokes aside, the narrative benefit is that it does explain why Eunsan developed a bit of an inferiority complex. He who had been training for so much longer naturally felt jilted when a younger kid comes sweeping the floor with talent on top of hard work. The realistic part is that in this world, we do end up competing with ppl who are more prodigious.
the author is such a good egg. like they have a great head above their shoulders, with ample of empathy and love, and you can see and feel it in the dialogues. this story gives out very nice life advices and some philosophical stuffs for you to ponder about, without being too dark or losing its touch of humor. one of the best works out there atm tbh.
we need to unite all titles under author "Janome" and "Jyanome" into one because it's the same person T_T
anw i think with the way this whole series has been set up, Janome could expand this universe a lot should they want to. like sending the characters to college, and then work afterwards, throwing in some classic Janome's soft sadness and pain of growing up (check out their other works to know more)... i hope all of us will be able to follow the journey of our 6 main characters for a long time!
