Then, turns out this man had AIDS, and when confronted about it, he says that he should give it to her little son (Idk whether it meant him raping the MC or raping the mother because it could transmit from infected mother to fetus too).
Now let's be clear about one thing. AIDS is not like your regular common cold. Patient needs immense will power and support from people around them just to cope with this syndrome. So, did she have anyone to rely on? Was there someone to say it's okay? I bet she couldn't even provide MC any basic needs because let's be honest no matter how educated people are, they're still gonna have biased view about this disease. Apart from that, she knew that rumors would follow her son always, no matter what.
